Erlenmeyer is a digital fabrication Lab in Arnhem [NL].
The Erlenmeyer foundation works with artists and designers to
investigate the application of contemporary fabrication methods
such as lasercutting, 3D printing and embedded electronics.
A Compressed Self is a commisioned research project by artist and photographer Juuke Schoorl.
In collaboration with Erlenmeyer she investigated the intersection of the photographic portrait
and digital fabrication. Not only in terms of reproduction, but also in terms of the relation
between technology and the body.
A Compressed Self demonstrates the possibilities and impossibilities of
digital spatial reproduction and the tactile expressions of a digital portrait.
In the process, the project uncovers new forms of easthetic expression.
